We know that you've got questions. Luckily, we've got (some) answers! So we've rounded up the most frequently asked questions to assist you in better understanding how to navigate JASW.  ot a question that's not answered below? 1. How can I sign up for membership?

You can sign up for membership in one of two ways:

    1. On this website follow the steps under the MEMBERSHIP tab to activate your membership online. You'll need a valid credit card and your payment will be valid for one year.
    2. Alternatively, payments can be made to Jamaica National Bank - JN account #2094-16-5688. You will need to submit proof of payment with your contact information to jamaicasociawork@gmail.com. 

Each annual membership comes with a membership packet. Once we receive confirmation of your payment we will contact you to make arrangements for you to receive it.


2. Can an individual from the 4 month Social Work course at SWTC (Mona) become a member?

Yes! Our Associate Membership level allows all social service paraprofessionals to become members of JAWS with full member benefits.

To sign up, click on the Membership tab above and follow the steps. Alternatively, payments can be made to Jamaica National Bank - JN account #2094-16-5688. You will need to submit proof of payment with your contact information to jamaicasociawork@gmail.com. 


3. What are some benefits of joining JASW?

There are several reasons to join JASW including but not limited to:

4. How can I be a volunteer with JASW?

We love volunteers!

Because our needs as an organization are varied and fluctuating, we like our volunteers to use their strengths. Our needs range from the mundane to the magnificent!

5. What are your hours?

You can reach us from 9 am. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday at 876- 510-8517 or email us anytime at jamaicasocialwork@gmail.com. 

6. Do I need a license to practice in Jamaica?

We currently in the process of developing a registration (and licensing) infrastructure for all social workers in Jamaica. You can keep up-to-date on our progress by joining our mailing list here

7. What credentials would I need to be a social worker in Jamaica?

The distinction of "social worker" is reserved for those who have completed social work training from a college or university. In Jamaica there are several entities that offer Social Work programmes. Visit our Resources page for more information. 

8. I don't live in Jamaica, but I'm interested in coming to the island very soon. Is there a way I can offer my services or get involved in social work in some way?

Great! There are several opportunities for you to contribute when you come to the island!
